A turbine meter is a type of meter that measures the velocity of water flow to verify the total amount used. The direction of flow is normally directly through the meter, which results in flow rates being higher and pressure loss being lower, unlike the displacement form of meters. A fire meter is a special type of turbine meter which has been approved for fire protection because of its high flow rates. A fire hydrant meter is a special type of moveable turbine meter that measures water from a hydrant.
